Etawah, 29 April 2016: The semifinals day of the Hockey India 6th Senior Men National Championship (A Division) saw games between Railways and Odisha and AIU and Punjab.

In the opening fixture Railways beat Odisha 4-2. They opened the scoring in the 9thminute via an Amit Rohidas penalty stroke. Odisha though equalised within two minutes with a PC goal from Sanjeep Xess. Almost from the restart Railways won a PC which was converted by Rohidas to give them a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Railways doubled that lead in the second quarter via an Affan Yousuf goal in the 24th minute and despite an Odisha fight back held on for a victory and a place in the finals.

In the second game Punjab blanked out AIU 5-0. Gurbaj Singh (5’, 15’) and Parvinder Singh (27’, 37’) registered braces in a comfortable victory for Punjab.
