Imphal, 21 May 2016: In the first semi-final of the 6th Hockey India  Sub-Junior Men National Championship (A Division) , Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Jharkhand 4-1. The home team opened the scoring in the 17th minute via Kingson Thokchom. Jharkhand scored the equaliser in the 20th minute via Joseph Kongari. In the second half, Manipur came out stronger, taking the lead via Dipu Laishram in the 45th minute. Laishram added another to his tally in the 52nd minute, before Ibungo S Jengbam put the result beyond Jharkhand with a fourth in the 69th minute.

In the second semi-final match, Hockey Gangpur Odisha beat Hockey Chandigarh 2-1. Gangpur opened the scoring via Amandeep Lakra’s PC conversion in the 48th minute, before doubling their lead in the 56thminute via Manip Kerketta. Chandigarh kept looking to break their opposition’s resolute defense to no avail, and when they did get a goal, in the 70th minute via Sanjay, it was too little too late.
