Etawah, 27 April 2016: The eighth day of the Hockey India 6th Senior Men National Championship (A Division) saw games played out from Pools B, C and D.

In the opening fixture played out from Pool B MP beat Bhopal 4-3. In a highly entertaining encounter MP quickly took a two goal lead via strikes from Vikas Choudhary (8’) and Arjun Sharma (11’). Bhopal though hit back soon after, scoring three goals with no reply in the quarters either side of half time. Their goals were scored by Faisal Aziz (30’), Osaf Rehman (34’) and Munis Qureshi (52’). In the final quarter MP came out the better side, scoring the equaliser through Choudhary in the 52nd minute. With a minute of the game remaining they scored the winner via a Tarun Adhikari PC conversion.

In the second Pool B game AIU beat UP 3-1. Goals for AIU were scored by Varinder Singh (10’), Gurjinder Singh (28’) and Harsahib Singh (53’). UP’s lone goal was scored by Arjun Yadav in the 56th minute.

In Pool C’s first game, Services thrashed Jharkhand 7-3. Services’s victory was ridden on a brace by Rana Pratap (9’, 35’) and goals from Devendra Chandra (3’), Binay Bhengra (17’), Shanawaz Alam (22’), Damanjit Singh (23’) and Nitesh Kumar (49’).

Air India and Namdhari XI drew 1-1 in the second Pool C game. Air India opened the scoring with a goal from Armaan Qureshi in the 14th minute. Namdhari’s equaliser came in the 53rd minute via a Karamjt Singh goal.

In the first Pool D game Odisha beat Patiala 2-1. Goals for Odisha were scored by Prakash Barla (28’) and Teophil Kujur (37’).
