Bengaluru, 26 April 2016: The second of the Women National Championship A Division saw matches played out from Pool A, B, C and D.

Railways beat Karnataka 9-0 in the opening game of Pool A. Anupa Barla scored four goals (18’, 20’, 50’, 59′) and Navneet Kaur (10’, 50’) scored a brace in their victory.

In the first game from Pool B Hockey Jharkhand beat Hockey Bhopal 3-0. Goals for Jharkhand were scored by Punam Madhuri Tete (6’, 54’) and Deepti Bilung (42’).

In the second Pool B game Odisha beat MP 3-2 in a highly entertaining match. Odisha opened the scoring in the 20th minute via Birajini Ekka. MP hit back with two goals. The first came in the 32nd minute via a Meha Rawat PC conversion and then took the lead with a Ramngaihzuali Ralte goal in the 48th minute. Odisha though came through strongly in the final 10 minutes of the match scoring the equaliser via a Suravi Pradhan PC conversion in the 50th minute and then taking the win with another PC conversion by  Nil Projita Majhi in the 58th minute.

In the first Pool C game Punjab beat SAI 2-1. They took the lead in the 5th minute via Gurjit Kaur but were pegged back by a SAI equaliser scored by Kanti Pradhan in the 12th minute. Lalremruati Khiangte scored the winner for Punjab in the 40th minute.

In the first Pool D game MP Hockey Academy rolled over Hockey Maharashtra 17-0. Karishma Singh scored five goals (4’, 8’, 11’, 56’, 59’) in their emphatic victory.
