Waalwijk (Netherlands), 13 August, 2017: The Indian Men’s Hockey team forward Ramandeep Singh achieved the distinction of playing 100 matches for his country on Sunday. The 24-year-old from Gurdaspur, Punjab, achieved the milestone in India’s first match against the Netherlands during India’s tour of Europe.

Since his international debut in the 9th Men’s Asia Cup 2013 in Ipoh, Malaysia, Ramandeep has become a trusted member in the Indian forward line. He has been a regular member of the Indian Men’s Hockey team and has also been a part of some of the team’s most memorable feats such as the Silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, a Gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, as well as the Gold medal in the Asian Champions Trophy in 2016. He was also part of the Indian team that participated at the Rio Olympics.

As a forward Ramandeep is impulsive and skillful in the striking circle. On most occasions, he can be one of India’s most entertaining players.

Mohd. Mushtaque Ahmad, Secretary General, Hockey India, congratulated Ramandeep on his 100th international appearance. “Over the years, Ramandeep Singh has proved his position in the Indian team with impressive performances. I congratulate him on completing 100 International matches for India and wish him the very best for future tournaments.”
