New Delhi, 29 May 2013: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy pulled off a fine 5-1 win against Chhattisgarh in their Pool B league match of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 played at Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium, Pimpri in Pune on Wednesday.

This is second consecutive win for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy.  Arman Quershi scored two goals followed by Raju Singh (1), Sarfraj Khan (1) and Vikas Choudhary (1) while Prince Yadav (1) scored for Chhattisgarh.

In the other match of Pool B, Puducherry defeated Tripura 7-5. Puducherry for whom Tamilarasan A (3), Manthena Pradyumnavarma (2), Rajesh K (1) and Kamala Kanan N (1) scored, thus posted their first win in their Pool while Tripura’s reply came from Rehan Khan (2), Khursheed Ahmad (2) and Zafar Iqbal (1).

In Pool F, Namdhari XI edged past Jammu & Kashmir 10-1 in their first league match played at Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex. For Namdhari XI, Gurpreet Singh topped the scorers list with three goals, followed by Gurvinder Singh (2), Karamjit Singh (1), Harpreet Singh (1), Didar Singh (1), Gurpreet Singh (1) and Sher Singh (1) while Rajinder Singh scored the only goal for Jammu & Kashmir who lost their second match in a row.

Railways edged past Sashastra Seema Bal 13-1 to register their second consecutive win in Pool F. Jasjeet Singh scored maximum number of 4 goals for Railways followed by Captain Sanjay Bir (3), Vinood Kumar Singh (2), Gagandeep Singh (2), Irshad Mirza (1) and Narad Bahadur (1) while Pankaj Nath Sharma scored the only goal for Sashastra Seema Bal who lost their second game in a row.

Last year’s semi-finalist Haryana beat Mumbai Hockey Association Limited 5-3 in their Pool D league match. Haryana scored through Bharat Chikkara (2), Ranjeet (1), Jitender Saroha (1) and Jagwant (1) while Faheem Khan (2) and Dhananjay Mahadik (1) were on target for Mumbai Hockey Association Limited.
