New Delhi, 21st March 2023: The 1st Hockey India Junior Men Zonal Championships 2023 continued today in the North, East, and West Zones with Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Bengal, and Hockey Madhya Pradesh registering victories in their respective Zones while the action in South Zone will resume tomorrow after a rest day.  

North Zone: Uttar Pradesh Hockey beat Delhi Hockey  

In the first match of the day in the 1st Hockey India Junior Men North Zone Championships 2023, Uttar Pradesh Hockey defeated Delhi Hockey by a 7-1 scoreline. The goal scorers for Uttar Pradesh Hockey were Mohd Kaif (7’), Triloki Venvanshi (19’), Rahul Yadav (28’), Shahrukh Ali (45’, 49’), Ketan Kushwaha (45’), and Siddhant Singh (57’) while Bhupender Singh (21’) scored the only goal for Delhi Hockey.  

East Zone: Hockey Association of Odisha win again  

The first match of the day in the 1st Hockey India Junior Men East Zone Championship 2023 being held in Khunti (Ranchi), Jharkhand saw Hockey Association of Odisha beat Hockey Bihar 7-0. Team Captain Pratap Toppo (14’) scored a field goal. He was followed by Anmol Ekka (18’, 19’, 23’), Abhishek Kispotta (22’, 36’) and Deepak Pradhan (47’) as Hockey Association of Odisha recorded an easy win. 

Hockey Bengal defeated Assam Hockey 4-2 in the second match. Santanu Naskar (5', 30', 44') completed his hat trick with three penalty corner conversions, while Ayush Prasad (24') chipped in with a field goal for Hockey Bengal. Manasrji Boro (16', 25') scored a brace for Assam Hockey, but it wasn't enough to prevent Hockey Bengal from winning the match.  

West Zone: Hockey Madhya Pradesh play out another thriller against Chhattisgarh Hockey   

Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Chhattisgarh Hockey 4-2 in the first match of the day at the ongoing 1st Hockey India Junior Men West Zone Championship 2023 in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. Tushar Parmar (3', 22'), Vinay Sanik (31') and Yogesh Punde (60') scored for Hockey Madhya Pradesh while Team Captain Vishnu Yadav (4’) and Harsh Sahu (52’) scored for Chhattisgarh Hockey.
