New Delhi: 30 August 2013: India entered the final of the 9th Men’s Asia Cup 2013 as they defeated the hosts Malaysia 2-0 in the semi-final played at the Azlan Shah stadium in Ipoh, Malaysia today.

India took an early lead in the sixth minute with a penalty corner converted by V R Raghunath.

In the second half, Malaysia got two back to back penalty corners but Indian goalkeeper P R Sreejesh made good saves to keep India ahead. India doubled its lead in the 60th minute when Ramandeep Singh split open the Malaysian defence with a brilliant through ball that found Mandeep, who made no mistake with scoring the winning goal.

Forward Mandeep Singh won the Man of the Match award. India had earlier won the Asia Cup in 2003 and 2007.

India will now face Korea in the final of the 9th Men’s Asia Cup to be played on Sunday 1st September 2013.

The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team and Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team embarked on a Tour of Europe in the early hours of Saturday. During the Tour, the Indian Junior Men’s Team will compete against Belgium, Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push, and Germany while the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team will take on Belgium, Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push, Germany, and Oranje Rood.
