V S Agriculture senior secondary school, Kheragarhi outplayed Government boys senior secondary school, Palam 3-1 to win the inaugural Delhi Waveriders School Cup that concluded at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on 24 December 2013.

In a ten days tournament, 32 schools across Delhi/NCR battled against each other to win the Best Hockey School team in the city.

The Chief Guest Mr. Ajit Saran (Secretary Sports, Government of India) presented winners trophy to VS Agricultural Senior Secondary School, Kheragarhi. Hero Hockey India League Chairman and Hockey India Secretary General Dr. Narinder Batra and Vice-Chairman of Wave Group Mr. Manpreet Singh Chadha were also present on the occasion.

Ganga International School’s Prakash was declared Player of the Tournament and he scored 12 goals while Ankit from Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Begampur was declared Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Manpreet Singh Chadha, Vice-Chairman, WAVE Group said, “It is indeed a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and passion among the children for the national game. This initiative was an endeavor to promote the national game and bring back its glory. The vision is to take this tournament to other cities as well, thus creating the best national level school hockey tournament in the country.”
