Imphal, 21 May 2016: In the first semi-final of the 6^th Hockey India  Sub-Junior Men National Championship (A Division) , Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Jharkhand 4-1. The home team opened the scoring in the 17^th minute via Kingson Thokchom. Jharkhand scored the equaliser in the 20^th minute via Joseph Kongari. In the second half, Manipur came out stronger, taking the lead via Dipu Laishram in the 45^th minute. Laishram added another to his tally in the 52^nd minute, before Ibungo S Jengbam put the result beyond Jharkhand with a fourth in the 69^th minute.

In the second semi-final match, Hockey Gangpur Odisha beat Hockey Chandigarh 2-1. Gangpur opened the scoring via Amandeep Lakra’s PC conversion in the 48^th minute, before doubling their lead in the 56^thminute via Manip Kerketta. Chandigarh kept looking to break their opposition’s resolute defense to no avail, and when they did get a goal, in the 70^th minute via Sanjay, it was too little too late.
