Results from Day 5 of 9th Hockey India Senior Men National Hockey Championship 2019 (B Division)

Chennai, 11 January 2019: Day Five at the 9th Hockey India Senior National Hockey Championship 2019 (Men) B Division in Chennai, Tamil Nadu saw Hockey Maharashtra, Manipur Hockey, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Central Industrial Security Force, Chhattisgarh Hockey, Hockey Coorg, Food Corporation of India, Delhi Hockey and Sports Authority of India register victories in their respective round robin matches on Friday.

 

Hockey Maharashtra beat Telangana Hockey 5-3 in their Pool A match. Telangana Hockey’s RamkrishnaBodigum (25′, 40′, 58′) scored a hat-trick of goals but in vain as a collective effort by Hockey Maharashtra and goals by Taleb Shah (32′), Rahul Rasala (33′), AjitShinde (42′, 52′) and BhushanDhere (56′) ensured they won the match.

 

In a high-scoring Pool B match, Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Andaman & Nicobar 19-0. Mani H Singh (2′, 20′, 36′, 45′, 51′), NirajkumarWaribam (5′), RabichandraMoirangthem (7′, 37′), Dipu L Singh (12′, 40′, 42′), SanjoymaniMairembam (18′, 19′), Dollar Kshetrimayum (26′), LaishramMantosh (30′, 41′), ThingamHerojit (43′), Heramani Singh Lisham (48′), NingombamBhakar (53′) scored in Manipur Hockey’s win.

 

In a Pool G match, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu beat Assam Hockey 13-1. Goals for the winning team was scored by V VinodRayer (8′, 19′, 36′), K Selvaraj (17′, 39′), P Dhamu (22′, 47′), J Joshua Benedict Wesely (26′, 40′), S Manikandan (28′, 60′), N Navinkumar (56′), K Ajay (59′). For Assam Hockey, Shubham Singh (29′) was the lone goal scorer.

 

Meanwhile Hockey Madhya Pradesh drew with Hockey Mizoram 2-2. After a 2-0 lead by Hockey Mizoram through goals by Lalhlimpuia (2′) and Vanroluaha (11′), Hockey Mizoram conceded goals in the 13th and 59th minute through Prakash Singh Rawat and SushilMaharashi of Hockey Madhya Pradesh to settle for a draw.

 

Central Industrial Security Force beat Hockey HIM 6-1. Harpreet Singh (29′, 49′), NirajYadav (37′), SangramChougule (44′), Abhash Sharma (56′) and BasantBharadwaj (60′) scored for the winners while Kapil (39′) was the lone goal scorer for Hockey HIM.

 

In another closely fought Pool D match, Chhattisgarh Hockey beat Andhra Hockey Association 3-2. For the winners, Junaid Ahmad starred with three back-to-back goals in the 27′, 31′, 48′ minutes while GopalRajuGoddindla (15′) and Harish Pamisetty (51′) scored for Andhra Hockey Association.

 

Hockey Coorg beat Goans Hockey 10-1 in their Pool H match. HemanthDevaiah (14′), PA Machaiah (23′, 30′, 50′), Deekshit SP (28′, 52′), N Sridhar (33′, 46′), IA Poovanna (57′, 60′) scored for the winners. While PandurangSankhalkar (5′) scored for Goans Hockey to take an early 1-0 lead but in vain.

 

Food Corporation of India beat Hockey Himachal 8-1 in their Pool F match. Manish Sharma (2′), VenkateshDevkar (7′, 21′, 25′), AvoyEkka (35′), GanendrajitNingombam (38′, 49′) and Sandeep Joshua (55′) scored for the winning team while Jaswinder Singh was the lone scorer for Hockey Himachal. In a closely-fought Pool E match, Delhi Hockey beat Kerala Hockey 4-3. Ashish Sharawat (7′), Skipper Simpinder Singh (25′, 34′) and Rajiv (36′) scored for Delhi Hockey while Nishant M (29′), Shjin S (32′) and Vineeth (33′) scored for Kerala Hockey. In a Pool H match, Sanjit Beck (47′) scored to help Sports Authority of India beat Steel Plant Sports Board.
