Results from Day 5 of 2nd Khelo India Youth Games 2019 (Under 17 & Under 21 Men)

Mumbai (Maharashtra), 11 January 2019: Action in the 2nd Khelo India Youth Games 2019 continued here at the Mahindra Hockey Stadium today into its fifth day with Odisha and Haryana winning their respective Pool B matches in the Under-21 Men’s category to advance to the Semi-Finals.

The first Pool B match of the day saw Haryana produce an emphatic 6-1 win over hosts Maharashtra to secure their qualification to the Semi-Finals as they finished the Pool stages with a tally of six points from three matches. Goals for Haryana were scored by skipper Mandeep Mor (3′, 10′), Kuldeep (6′, 55′), Mohit (59′) and Deepak (60′) while Maharashtra’s only goal of the match was scored by Rohan Patil in the 36th minute.

In the other Pool B match, it was Odisha who maintained their 100% record as they defeated Jharkhand 2-1 to top their Pool with a tally of nine points. A brace from Odisha’s Shilanand Lakra in the 9th and 35th minutes saw him put his team into a commanding position. While, Jharkhand’s only goal of the match came in the 39th minute through Ashim Tirkey.

The Semi-Final matches of the Under-21 Men’s competition will take place on Sunday, 13 January 2019 where Punjab will take on Haryana at 1400hrs in the first Semi-Final match while Uttar Pradesh will face Odisha at 1600hrs in the second Semi-Final.

Saturday, 12 January 2019 will see the Semi-Final matches of the Under-17 Men’s competition take place as Odisha will take on Punjab at 0900hrs in the first Semi-Final while Uttar Pradesh will be up against Haryana at 1100hrs in the second Semi-Final encounter.
