Results from 9th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship B Division

Sikar (Rajasthan), 25 May 2019: On the final day of 9th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship (B Division), Hockey Madhya Bharat beat Hockey Uttarakhand 5-2 in the 3rd/ 4th place match. Hockey Himachal emerged as winners beating Hockey Maharashtra by 1-0 in the Final.

In a match that saw as many as seven goals, Hockey Madhya Bharat eventually prevailed 5-2. Aishwarya Dubey opened the account for Hockey Madhya Bharat in the 7th minute. But it was the 2nd quarter when both the sides starting taking initiative. Gungun Kashyap brought back Hockey Uttarakhand in the game scoring the equalizer in 24th minute. But Hockey Madhya Bharat scored two goals in next three minutes to wrest initiative via Sneha Patel (26’) and skipper Shileima Khaidem (27’). Third quarter saw Chandni Katariya (35’) trying to bring Hockey Uttarakhand in the game but Sneha Patel (40’) and Shileima Khaidem (44’) came back in action again to put the match out of Hockey Uttarakhand’s reach.

In a battle of equals, both the finalists Hockey Himachal and Hockey Maharashtra played a patient game. Neither of the side was willing to give an inch to the other. The first three quarters saw no real threat in the opposition’s circle. But it was 4th quarter when Hockey Himachal skipper Sonam decided to take the matters in her hand. 49th minute the deadlock was broken as Hockey Himachal took the lead, defended until the end of the regulation time to be declared as champions.
