Navjot Kaur, Deep Grace Ekka, Inderpreet Kaur are assets to the team: Rani Rampal

New Delhi, 28 August 2015: With the 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015 all slated to commence on the 5th September 2015 in Changzhou, China, the Indian Junior Women Hockey team is gearing up to face the challenges that the tournament will throw at them. Placed in Pool A of the tournament, the young Indian eves will face the challenges of China, Malaysia, Singapore and DPR Korea in the pool phase. The team all set to depart next week for the tournament, will open its outing with their clash against DPR Korea in the opening match on the first day of the tournament.

With the team all set to depart for the tournament next week Chief Coach, Mathias Ahrens said “We have a good team with good players who have the ability to give a good fight to any team. The 7th AHF Junior Asia Cup will be a tough competition as the best Asian teams like Japan, Korea and China will participate in this tournament. The Preparatory Camp has improved the skills and stamina of the players. The Camp has given players enough time for their recovery as well as working on their mistakes. We are expecting a good show from the team and positive results.”

Speaking on the tournament and the players, Captain Rani Rampal said “The team and players are in good shape for the upcoming 7th AHF Junior Asian Cup. We have worked on various strategies during the ongoing Preparation Camp and are working to implement them during the tournament. We have good players such as Navjot Kaur, Deep Grace Ekka and Inderpreet Kaur, who are assets to the team. We are aiming to reach the final of the tournament and we will play with this goal.”

The 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015 is a qualification tournament for the FIH Junior World Cup (Women) 2016. The upcoming tournament will be played from 5th to 13th September 2015 in Changzhou, China. A total nine Junior Asian teams will participate in this prominent tournament. India’s first clash will be against DPR Korea on 5th September at 12.30 pm IST.
