Looking forward to play against Australia in the 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup final: Sardar Singh

New Delhi, 30 March 2015: Gearing up to take on five international challengers in the much awaited 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, scheduled to take place from 5th April – 12th April 2015

 in Ipoh, Malaysia, the Indian Men National Hockey Team is witnessed to be in a sturdy shape eyeing to beat the bests in the tournament.

Riding high on the success of recently concluded tournaments like the Asian Games where the Indian Men bagged the Gold-spot and the Champions Trophy 2014, where the Indian team defeated a much stronger team (The Netherlands) after 18 years and gave a tough fight to Australia as well, to finish fourth in the tournament.

Speaking on the team, Indian Captain Sardar Singh said, “The team is motivated post the Champions Trophy 2014, where we beat the top teams that are ranked higher than us. While we stood fourth in the tournament, there were stronger teams that finished lower in the tournament.”

Talking on the upcoming challenge, he further added, “With Satbir and Mandeep in the team, our attack gets a good boost and with Chinglensana in addition will help strengthen our midfield. The upcoming tour will be tough but the boys are confident enough and we are looking forward to meeting Australia in the final.”

The Indian Men Hockey Team will be participating in the 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at Malaysia from 5 April 2015 – 12 April 2015.

India will play their first match against Korea at 15:40 HRS IST on 5 April 2015.
