India open 9th Men’s Asia Cup campaign with a dominating win

New Delhi: 24 August 2013: India started their campaign on a winning note as they easily defeated Oman 8-0 in their opening match of the 9th Men’s Asia Cup 2013 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Malaysia on Saturday.

India scored through Mandeep Singh (4th, 40th & 44th minute), Ramandeep Singh (17th minute), V R Raghunath (28th minute), Rupinder Pal Singh (34th minute), Malak Singh (47th minute) and S K Uthappa (69th minute) while opponents Oman fail to score a goal.

In the opening half, the majority of India’s pressure came from the right flank with Ramandeep Singh and Malak Singh combining well.

India continued to dominate in the second half with 4 goals.

India will now take on Korea in their next match to be played on Monday 26 August 2013. Ramandeep Singh, in his debut for India scored his first international goal.
