India eves claim historic Bronze Medal in the FIH Junior Women Hockey World Cup 2013

The Indian Junior Women Hockey team created history by winning the country’s first ever bronze medal in the FIH Junior Women Hockey World Cup 2013 at Monchengladbach, Germany on Sunday as they defeated England 3-2 via penalty shootout.

The Vice-Captain and forward Rani scored India’s only goal in the regulation time and then found the net twice in the penalty shoot-out which helped India to mark this historic win.

India took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute with the goal scored by Rani. The Indian girls slowly took control of the match and the half time score stood at 1-0. In the 55th minute, England played an equalizer through a goal scored by Anna Toman.

The result remained tied 1-1 after regulation time and the match was decided in a penalty shoot-out competition.

India had surprised top teams in the tournament finishing their campaign in a superb manner.

Indian forward Rani was declared the Best Player of the FIH Junior Women Hockey World Cup 2013.
