New Delhi, 21st May 2023: The 13th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2023 witnessed an action-pack Day 4 of the tournament at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha on Sunday as Hockey Punjab, Delhi Hockey and Hockey Chandigarh each picked up victories in their respective games.

In the first match of the day, Hockey Punjab defeated Assam Hockey 8-1 in the Pool E contest. Harshdeep Singh (29', 50', 52') was the star for Hockey Punjab as he netted a hat-trick. Sukhmanpreet Singh (9'), Ajaypal Singh (32'), Rohan Bhushan (44'), Captain Prabhjot Singh (47') and Kushal Sharma (50') also scored one goal each to help Hockey Punjab register a second consecutive victory in the tournament. Amit Dayal (3') netted the lone goal for Assam Hockey.

The second match of the day was a thrilling affair as Delhi Hockey defeated Tripura Hockey 54-0. Afridi (5', 7', 18', 19', 21', 23', 28', 33', 34', 37', 43', 46', 50', 53') scored blistering fourteen goals and proved out to be the most valuable player for his side. Anil Kumar (2', 9', 19', 48', 49', 49', 51', 52', 53', 57') scored ten goals whereas Ibrahim Haroon (5', 13', 15', 18', 28', 30', 50', 54', 55') scored nine goals to help Delhi Hockey maintain their lead. Yuvraj Singh (13', 15', 31', 48') and Ankit Kumar (42', 42', 59', 59') scored four goals, while Mohd. Aamir Choudhary (2', 2', 10') and Mayank Dhingra (40', 44', 60') scored a hat-trick each. Eklavya (14', 33'), Naman Sharma (17', 20') and Captain Harsh Phalswal (22', 53') scored a brace each and Aryan (26') also scored one goal to get their name on the scoresheet for Delhi Hockey.

In the third match of the day, Hockey Chandigarh defeated Hockey Gujarat 28-1. Gurpreet Singh (3', 19', 29', 38', 48', 51') stood out to be the star performer for Hockey Chandigarh as he scored six goals on regular intervals and helped his side gain the required lead right from the start of the match. Komalpreet Singh (4', 31', 53'), Sukhmanpreet Singh (11', 52', 58') and Gurjeet Singh (12', 53', 54') scored three goals each for their side. Captain Damandeep Singh (2',40') opened the account for his side and scored two goals in total along with Prabhjot Singh Saini (16', 32'), Misbah Khan (18', 23') and Fateh Singh (42', 46') who also contributed with a couple of goals each. Pankaj Sharma (7'), Sukhpreet Singh (8'), Prince Singh (14'), Maninderpal Singh (17') and Sunny (36') also scored one goal each and took the game further away from Hockey Gujarat. Nikunj Salvi (22') scored the lone goal for Hockey Gujarat.

Notably, later in the day Hockey Arunachal will face off against Hockey Rajasthan, Hockey Bihar will take on Hockey Uttarakhand, and Hockey Madhya Pradesh will compete against Hockey Maharashtra in their respective pools.

Also, on Saturday Hockey Punjab defeated Tripura Hockey 42-0 and Goans Hockey defeated Chattisgarh Hockey 7-0.
