Kollam (Kerala), 29 January 2020: The Quarter-Finals of the 10th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2020 (B Division) took place here at the Hockey Stadium, which saw Sashastra Seema Bal, Bengaluru Hockey Association, Steel Plant Sports Board and UCO Bank Women's Hockey Academy progress to the Semi-Finals of the competition on Wednesday.

In the first Quarter-Final, Sashastra Seema Bal produced a magnificent 10-1 win over Goans Hockey. Sashastra Seema Bal opened their account through Preeti in the 5th minute. The player took her tally to nine goals in the tournament as she added three more (12’, 38’, 39’) to put the opponents on the back-foot. Ekka Maxima (28’, 59’) and Devi Longjam Bijeta (51’, 58’) scored a brace each, while Anjika (23’) and Manisha (41’) scored a goal each for the victors. Nikita Naik (50’) scored the only goal for Goans Hockey.

In the second Quarter-Final, Bengaluru Hockey Association beat Hockey Gujarat 5-1 to enter the final-four. Bengaluru Hockey Association were the first to take the lead in the second quarter of the match as B Madhumathi scored in the 19th minute. The forward completed her hat-trick as she scored again in the 32nd and 56th minutes. Anjali Dharamveer (44’) and Sandra S (45’) also joined the party, scoring a goal each. The lone goal for Hockey Gujarat was scored by Rinku Prajapti (42’).

In the third Quarter-Final, Steel Plant Sports Board got the better off The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. as they beat them 4-1. Shikha Sharma (2’) opened the scoring for Steel Plant Sports Board through a Penalty Corner, while Savita (6’), Akanksha Shukla (13’) and Manisha Dhawak (33’) also registered their names on the score-sheet to secure the win for their team. Chaitrali Gawde (57’) scored The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd.'s only goal of the match.

The last Quarter-Final saw UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy beat Hockey Patiala 2-1 in a close encounter. Hockey Patiala were the first to score as Taranpreet Kaur (10’) converted a Penalty Corner. However, UCO Bank Women's Hockey Academy bounced back in the second-quarter as Priya (23’) found the back of the net. At the start of the third-quarter, UCO Bank Women's Hockey Academy took the lead after Sonam (31’) scored a field-goal. UCO Bank Women's Hockey Academy held on to finish the match 2-1 and secure a place in the Semi-Finals.
